MINIMALLY INVASIVE MANAGEMENT OF VEIN DISEASE

SCLEROTHERAPY: In this procedure, physician injects the spider and reticular veins with a solution that closes those veins, causing the blood to reroute through healthier veins. In a few weeks, treated spider veins fade. Although the same vein may need to be injected more than once, sclerotherapy is usually effective if done expertly. Sclerotherapy doesn't require anesthesia and can be done in the physician’s office. It is considered a cosmetic procedure.

RADIOFREQUENCY ABLATION:  This office procedure works by using the radiofrequency catheter in the superficial vein which obliterates the vein by heat energy. This procedure is used for the treatment of larger veins with reflux which leads to varicose veins and spider veins. It is approved by most insurance companies if patients have symptoms and evidence of venous insufficiency by ultrasound. The symptoms may include heaviness, tiredness etc. of legs after prolonged standing or sitting, swelling of the ankles, dry skin, redness or leg ulcers.
